If I do update will I regret it, just hang on a while to see if Philips push a Fix out, or are most users happy with current update and I should just go ahead and not worry about it? Rolling back software versions seems not to be an option of the 8204 model as far as I have read.In the "Firmware Update" dialog box select "Yes" to start the update. Any current range TV owners opinions welcome but those who have the same model as I do (50PUS8204/12) would be extra useful. Interested on other Philip's TV owners opinions and where they think Philips are on pushing out a fix (if any as when I called them they, unsurprisingly, were clueless). Unfortunately doing an update directly via the TV would bounce me to the latest version (although unhelpfully it doesn't advise you what version they propose to push to the TV prior to pressing "Update"). My Instinct would normally be to update as there have been several other incrementals since first release I am missing out on which would likely be positive but then I don't want to the very latest update if it introduces issues.
My 50PUS8204/12 looks to have the original September 2019 Firmware installed but I have held off updating due to the chat going on, is this the best plan of action? I assume the Firmware that has caused the issue is the 16th December 2019 (TPM191E _ 001.002.173.007) update they pushed that resolved the BBC iPlayer sound issue as it's the last one noted on the Changelog However, whilst reading around AV Forums about various current Philips 4K TV models there currently seems a lot of chat across the range regarding the negative affect the latest firmware update has introduced. Just purchased the Philip 50PUS8204/12 and done initial set up and, so far, rather impressed with the picture Vs price equation.
